As your City Councillor, I believe you deserve a City government that is open, honest, and clear about the choices it makes. That means communicating in plain language, not jargon. It means listening carefully to your concerns, explaining why decisions are made, and being prepared to answer tough questions. Accountability isn’t a slogan - it’s a commitment to owning our decisions and learning from them so we can do better for Yellowknife.

Responsible Financial Stewardship
Every tax dollar matters. When Council makes decisions, we need to look beyond the upfront price tag and consider the full lifecycle of what we’re investing in - from long-term maintenance and operating costs to the broader impacts on our community. My focus is on fiscal prudence and value for money: prioritizing resources where they are needed most, avoiding waste, and making sure we can sustain the services and infrastructure our city relies on over time.
Modern & Responsive Government
City government should not be stuck in “we’ve always done it this way.” We need to be willing to adapt, modernize, and improve how we serve residents and businesses. That includes improving administrative efficiency where we can, improving customer service, and making it easier for people to get clear answers and timely support from City Hall. My goal is a City that responds quickly and thoughtfully when needs change or new challenges arise.

Collaboration and Partnership
Yellowknife does not exist in isolation. Many of the opportunities and challenges facing our city require cooperation between municipal, Indigenous, territorial, and federal governments, as well as businesses, community organizations, and residents. I believe in building respectful relationships, finding common ground, and working collaboratively to advance solutions that strengthen our community and improve quality of life.
Thoughtful Decision Making
The challenges we face as a city are complex, and there are rarely simple, one-step solutions. Thoughtful decision making means taking the time to listen to different perspectives, weigh evidence carefully, and understand the tradeoffs involved in each choice. It’s about balancing short-term needs with long-term goals, and making decisions that support the future success and resilience of Yellowknife.
